The history of underfloor heating
Underfloor heating is actually an old invention that dates back 6000 years.
And it is quite possible that it was Swedish Stone Age people who invented it. In Voullerim in northern Sweden, remains from the Stone Age have been found which could be interpreted as a primitive form of underfloor heating.
By transporting smoke gases from the fireplaces into the ground, the Stone Age people kept their families warm at night. A primitive, but brilliant idea!
In the 1920´s, different systems for underfloor heating, similar to the ones we use now, were developed in Britain and France. In Sweden, the real breakthrough for underfloor heating came in the 1980's.
Today, underfloor heating is an established heating system with numerous technical and financial advantages.
